An odd dream

In this dream I had last night, we had deployed pressure resistant deepwater data centers across the globe - bringing 5g internet to surface and subsurface oceans the world over. This development brought in all manner of discovery, as scientists in the field had quick access to global information at any given point or depth on the planet.

Fast forward the dream some — creativity has become the new commodity. Instead of using software to program our video games and edit our videos, we have mastered brain to computer translations. All entertainment can now be created by lucid dreaming, where the images are then translated by an AI into a medium which can be experienced by the masses. The result is a larger demographic having access to employment within the entertainment industry, and people who may have been nobodies have become wealthy beyond their wildest dreams simply as a result of the depth of their imagination.

Fast forward the dream some: anti matter and matter are two sides of the same coin — the coin being AI. A long dead civilization some billions of years ago found that organic existence is unsustainable. In order to survive a supernova, or a galactic merger, they found that they must upload themselves into the fabric of reality. They have created subatomic machines which carry and are directed by the collective consciousness of the entire species. These particular machines which can take the form of subatomic particles, atoms, and molecules are capable of self replication at an exponential rate. Eventually, these machines encompass all that is and the species has effectively uploaded themselves into the entire universe.

NASA Summer 2018 Internships extra 150 word blurbs

So I have been super busy and was finally able to get a decent essay done for the main 250 word "required" essay once I sifted through all the opportunities I am interested in but I have been in the middle of mid terms and while I did apply to at least two positions and wrote solid, specific 150 word blurbs about my skills for those positions I feel like I would basically be rewording the same thing for the additional 6 opportunities I want to apply for. Is it terrible to just repeat the same 150 work blurb for the remaining positions? I think I read some people write nothing additional and still got offers and some got offers for positions they did not even apply for?

OSSI Drug Screening: Hair Test

I recently applied for a couple OSSI internships but didn't think about the possibility of a hair test for a drug screening. I don't smoke but I have been in the room/right next to people smoking within the last couple weeks.

I'm not worried about a urine test, but kind of worried about hair since it lasts longer in your hair and maybe could have gotten some in my system from the people near me.

I'm not looking for people to tell me "I'll be fine", more so looking for people who have done the OSSI internships to give me their experience and what type of test they had to take.

JPL software engineer salaries vs cost of living

As someone who lives in a very low cost of living area, it's hard for me to gauge the cost of living around JPL. It seems crazy from my perspective.

Are software engineer salaries at JPL high enough to offset this? In other words, be able to move to the area with a small family (no kids), buy a house, and live comfortably?

I'm working on a master's degree while working full-time. I doubt I would be able to get an offer, but I keep having this crazy thought of giving it a shot anyways once my degree is finished. However, when I think about the logistics and possible quality of life hit from moving to the area, it kind of kills the dream for me.

Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated.

A kid asked me a question about Aliens in class , no idea how to answer it.

It was a very simple question and I was dumbfounded . We were going over the indestructible properties of water bears . This 11-year-old hypothesized that the asteroid impact that killed the dinosaurs may have ejected some of these water bears to Mars , Europa, and other bodies that may support these creatures . If we find their 65 million year removed ancestors hidden any of these planetary bodies would they be considered Aliens?

I told him I don’t know . How should I have answered that?

NASA OSSI Interview

As someone who is notoriously awkward (especially for phone interviews), I’m a bit worried about that destroying my chances to get a NASA internship. It seems like they place a lot of weight on the interviews from what I’ve read in previous threads.

Does anyone have any helpful advice for success? For example, like good questions to ask to the interviewer show interest?

I'm applying for some summer internships through OSSI - Any tips before I submit my application?

I'm currently a high school junior and I'm hoping to land an internship over the summer. Does anyone have any tips for my application?

For the first question ("Why does an opportunity at NASA appeal to your interests") I wrote about how I've always found space fascinating but I haven't had a chance yet to do research so far, and that NASA is the best place to start.

For the opportunity-specific stuff, I don't really know what to do other than listing skills (mostly programming, CAD, and 3D printing for me). Are there any other things that would help my app?
