What's the most difficult but most rewarding paper you've read?

For me, it was Fermi's quantum theory of radiation. The sheer quantity of equations, each compounded into Greek letters, each having sometimes dozens of subscripts, it had detailed explanations for every part which all led to a beautiful picture of the quantum field.

It was really difficult to read and took me about a week, but it was truly worth it; I doubt I could have gotten that level of value out of any textbook.

So I was thinking about that, and I wondered...is that the only paper I should dedicate time towards understanding? Maybe some of you guys can share :)
