What are the best alien movies, tv shows and documentaries?

Hey all. Just wanted to start a conversation on this.

I am a huge fan of all alien related shows/movies/docs, however there are a vast number I find to be absolute shit, predictable and simply stupid.

I saw the latest independence day last night, and I am so over aliens having 1 central hivemind weakness. If we destroy the leader/central base, everything else dies! Yay! #merika. It's such a flawed concept, do these aliens have no fail safe at all? Surely such an advanced race would have considered all the options right?

So in light of all the shitty, american g-up, hivemind destroying rubbish movies/shows, i was hoping to get everyone's opinion on the best things they've watched.

For context, my favourite "alien movie" is Signs.
