To start off I want to say that I have been a space enthusiast for years now, I have seen several STS launches, SpaceX launches and most recently I went to Promontory, Utah for the QM-2 booster test with the NASA Social group.
Last night I was on a date at Boondoggles Pub off of NASA Parkway in Houston, TX. While walking to my car I saw a gentleman approaching and I could tell he was wearing a dress shirt with the classic NASA logo on it. This is the conversation we had..
Me: "excuse me do you work at NASA?"
Bolden: "yes I do"
Me: "awesome I have always loved space and I am thrilled about what you guys have planned in the future, can I ask what you do at NASA?"
Bolden: "Well I am the NASA Administrator"
Me: "bullshit the NASA Administrator is Charlie Bolden, you're telling me you're Charlie Bolden?"
Bolden: "yes that is me, it's nice to meet you"
Me: "stop messing with me man, what do you actually do at NASA?"
Bolden: "I'm serious, my name is Charlie Bolden"
Me: ......
I have only seen pictures of Bolden before but never paid attention to what he looked like and since it was dark in the parking lot I had no idea that it was actually him. Once I realized it was actually him I apologized to him for acting like such a jackass and not believing him. We spoke for probably 15 minutes about the plans to Mars, Blue Origin, the SpaceX explosion and so on. He was an all around great guy and I was thrilled he gave me the time of day. We shook hands and I thanked him for all NASA is doing, he hopped into what looked like an F-250 Super Duty and drove off.
