I'm a firm believer in alien life. In my opinion, those who deny the likelihood of their existence are the definition of human arrogance. However, why would a highly advanced, sentient species take interest in our world? Is this belief just a symptom of our own inflated ego?
By most accounts, we live on a very average planet, in an average solar system, in an average galaxy. Compared to the extraordinary features in the universe, we no longer seem so special. So I ask, why would we possibly register as important to them? We're a violent, aggressive, selfish species who kills for land, color of skin and petty divisions over superstitious belief systems.
I'd genuinely like to know some of the theories you all have concerning this question.
