I constantly hear people say how aliens and us humans would be able to "communicate" through mathematics and physics, as both humans and aliens would understand the same laws across rn universe.
Physics yes I understand. Obviously they would find the same conclusion we have about forces, they would just call them different names and such.
But math, I don't see how we would be on the same level. Our numbers to start would be different, for one. What if their number system has 13 base numbers instead of our 10 (0, 1, 2,... 9). There would be no way of understanding each other when the most basic aspects of our mathematics is extremely different. And what about everything else?? I just don't see how aliens, whom probably have no idea about human learning and such, would be able to just be like "oh yeah we know what pi is and sin cos tan and derivatives and everything." Even not at that advanced level, I don't see how we'd even remotely be able to understand each other mathematically.
Am I totally being stupid right now or??
