If anyone has any insight on my concerns, I would be really grateful.
I was planning to apply for a Postdoc Fellow position with the NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) this year, but does the federal hiring freeze affect those positions in any way?
Also- the projects I am most interested in are with Earth Sciences, but it sounds like the funding for that is going to get cut given Trump's statements on climate change research. Here's an earlier thread discussing this. Then this announcement just came out yesterday, which is vaguely worded, but leaves me with the sense that they do intend to cut it. How soon could this affect the NPP for Earth Science projects, if funding is cut? How does any reliance on 'soft money' change this, or not? What's the general feeling among NASA folks for how this change in funding priorities will play out?
Thanks for reading!
