Unsure if this fits well here, but would be alien enough perhaps.
Anyone heard of an underground hominid-like species, possessing unusable/nonexistent eyes? Eyes probably covered by a permanent eyelid (underground meaning light-sensitivity likely)?
I was looking at the age of different species on our planet, then the rate in which modern humans evolved from less developed hominids. It seems plausible that many interesting things may have evolved on this planet, possibly underground, after major catastrophes (like comet impacts).
If so, anyone have any links to some proof of this? Or can anyone speculate what other characteristics such an Earth-born species would possess(other than light sensitivity)?
