I am of an opinion that there are aliens out there, but not many light years away but everywhere. The galaxy alone is billions of billions years older than our little rock and we have discovered nearby "habitable" exo-planets. I think there are many species older and more advanced than us much closer than we think.
To get to my point, I think the Solar System is under a type of quarantine. In my logic, it makes perfect sense so just take the time to here me out.
First question, why are we under this quarantine? Our history has been little but wars and conflict. Monumental moments like women getting the vote in the UK was brought about with conflict. The world wars, the crusades, need I say more? If there is a highly advanced race of beings out there, why would they want to know us. To them we are just nothing but greedy, violent monkeys with an extra large ego. Why would anything GOOD want to help us get out there and start wreaking havoc?
Second question, who is maintaining the quarantine? Probably a benevolent ancient race with some degree of large influence. Let's be honest, before the Industrial Revolution our planet was teeming with resources we think are scarce everywhere else. What would be stopping all other races from learning about this primitive species of apes and their rich planet and coming here and either enslaving us or purging us and mining the planets resources? Nothing could do that without actually having a lot of influence and power to stop every other possible species from ravaging our rock.
Third question, if we are under quarantine, why is there alien abductions? Well, there is little proof of them actually happening but it is included in my theory anyway. I think they are collecting data on earth for the release of the quarantine. It is one of two circumstances that the quarantine will be lifted, the extinction of humanity or our turn to science, medicine and peace rather than war. They are gathering detail in cade we prove ourselves worthy to be among them so that they can help and accommodate us. This also raises the question of the Arecibo message and response. I think that it does not detail who is maintaining the quarantine but the ones that are doing the research as they are the ones we are most likely to see. A quick note on crop circles. I think they are just them trying to communicate with us to help guide us. I don't think these are officially meant to be sent to us but some can be decode with binary to see some freaky messages, fake or not, we should heed them. But if they are alien, i think they are non-officially contacting us because communicating with us would be illegal if we are under quarantine. Probably from the race holding the quarantine.
Question four, why can't we see them? I ask a question in response. Can US citizens see China? The answer being no. This is a highly advanced species in my theory, it would be stupid to assume they didn't figure out how to hide from out primitive technology. Hell, they could be hiding in asteroids and other planets. We have underground bunkers, why can't they? Another thing, the Kepler telescope is out of the solar system, doesn't this rebuke my theory? I suspect they allowed it to happen. We are scouting other systems for a replacement Earth so our species can survive. Besides, I think they have collected the satellites that are dead to they can test our tech and the records(music) we put on all our satellites with details on the human race.
Question five, how do I know this? I don't. This is just my take on the UFO/ET craze. This is purely a theory I thought of after watching a documentary on the Kepler telescope and not being able to get to sleep because of a sugar overdose. You can say I am a madman and you wouldn't be too wrong, I'm not exactly normal.
