I realise that this is a place for devoted believers of aliens/extraterrestrials, however I want everyone to keep an open mind. Please no ‘shun the nonbeliever’ behaviour, or ‘you don’t hold the same opinion as me so you must be stupid’ attacks, lets keep mature and discuss.
All my life, I’ve loved the idea of aliens. I love everything about ghosts, aliens, religion, it all fascinates me. It’s worth noting that I’m a man of science and reason. I’ve seen zero evidence of any of these things, yet I’ve seen plenty of evidence of dismissive explanations. Keeping this in mind, I WISH we could discover that aliens exist. I’d love to believe, I’d love to be absolutely certain that there’s other life in the cosmos, knowledge is power and that concrete knowledge would be power to me.
My question for everyone is; ‘WHY do you believe?
You’ve seen things, heard things, experienced things, everyone has. But whilst some of us say ‘that was weird, the imagination is a crazy thing’, others say ‘that was aliens’. I’m not suggesting that everyones experiences are imaginary, I’m suggesting that because I personally haven’t had these strange experiences, it’s physically impossible to believe something that has so little proof.
We’ve all experienced strange stuff. Our minds play tricks on us, this is fact. Imagination runs wild, we see and hear things that aren’t real, we have conversations with ourselves (you ALL do it), our imagination is what makes us human. I myself suffered from sleep paralysis for a long time time, I had terrifying episodes of watching various monsters and aliens enter my bedroom and stare at me, I’ve seen some serious shit. Eventually though, I trained myself to turn sleep paralysis into a lucid dream. Soon after, everything stopped. No more paralysis, no more creepy monsters. All gone. The imagination fascinates me, but especially the imagination of others.
My personal belief is the one that makes most sense and has the most logic. I believe that when someone sees a weird light, it’s often their imagination, or it’s reasonably explained. I believe that when someone feels a presence, that’s our basic instincts kicking in for no reason. I also believe (please don’t be offended, remember that this is just MY opinion) that everyone who has had significant experiences with aliens is experiencing some form of epilepsy.
This brings me to my question again; WHY do you believe? You, reading this. Why are you so certain that aliens exist? Have you explored possible explanations? Have you researched the effects of frontal lobe epilepsy? Surely you’ve seen plenty of explanations for these experiences, with plausibility. Yet, you believe in the wild alternative, that aliens exist despite there being zero plausible evidence?
Do you also believe in God? If not, why not? If you can believe in one thing blindly, why not another? This isn’t an attack on your beliefs, I’m genuinely curious. What makes YOU believe?
