If we were to encounter extraterrestrials, what is the risk that a breakdown of communication happens? How would we deal with that?
Now I’ll get into some morally dubious questions.
Should we kill them all? If we were to fight a war with aliens, should it be a war of extermination? Would the threat be too great for us to allow them to exist? Is the universe only big enough for one dominant species?
