For so many years of the cooperation they seem to have a great bond that's being broken by the politics. As always in our society one thing supplements another and in a meanwhile it us hard for them to carry the separate existence.
I believe that science in this case will prevail and the politics will go to the background. They should not be able to stop us from exploring the space.
