so there is this website:
http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/m.html
In which you can basically browse radio frequencies globally, and while exploring I stumbled upon this creepy station in the frequency: 14077.36 AM radio. I don't know if it is still broadcasting at the time you are reading this but just in case it isn't, what i basically heard was something like distorted screams, like a robot or an alien screaming. There are a lot of radio stations close to this frequency that make all shorts of beeping, dial up cell phone sounds like the one in the frequency 14026.19. Do you guys have any ideas on what this could be?
EDIT: I posted this very same post to r/signalidentification and u/BeesAndChickens responded with a very interesting comment:
Switch it to USB, rather than AM - those are JT65 signals, used by hams for low-power/long-distance contacts. It was originally developed for earth-moon-earth but is very popular on terrestrial HF too. (edit: words)
BTW, earth-moon-earth (EME) is exactly what it sounds like: you bounce your signals off the moon and back down to earth. Someone else receives the echo and responds in kind. The antenna arrays some of these guys have are positively bananas.
There's nothing secret about them, but you need software to decode them. A typical JT65 QSO (conversation) is shown here. I use WSJTX. You could play that audio into a desk mic running the app and probably get them to decode.
