Hi!
I am participating in a 10-day start-up prototyping contest at my university, and so far my team and I have the idea of applying synthetic biology to space exploration, particularly how can this kind of technology help in the scenario of a spatial station such as the ISS, or a future colony on Mars.
We have thought about bioreactors in microgravity conditions, producing plastic out of CO2 for 3D printing, using martian dust to build bricks, etc, etc; but I would like to ask you if you know any problem or challenge that could be tackled using biotechnological solutions, or if you know some technology that already exists in that regard.
Thanks for the help!!
