A cliche story but the peak of my life.

My dad used to live in a small fishing village where they once a year had a harbor/port festival where everyone from the village showed up, grilled, drank, threw darts, bet on chicken shitting and all that redneck stuff.

I was about 7 or 8 years old and it was well past midnight and the party was starting to die out, most people had either passed out from the excessive drinking and entire day or somehow managed to crawl back to their homes.
The last people was the more sober crew who did some cleaning and was making sure there weren't too much to do the next day.
After most of the cleaning was done we ended up about 8 or 9 adults and myself in a small circle, just talking loosely about everything and nothing at the same time.
I was starting to get a bit tired from the comedown of the tremendous amount of sugar i had ingested doing the festivities, so i decided to lay down on the cold summer grass next to the talking adults. I was gazing at the starts as i had done countless of times in my young life form the very same location, all while reflecting on the evenings wonderful events that took place and how this was the best harbor party so far.
All of the sudden i noticed that some of the stars "loosened" themselves from the tapestry the sky created above us and started heading to the same place on the sky, properly a bit further out on the ocean but it at least looked like they were right above us.
They all suddenly aligned in a perfect circular formation and started moving around and around, not floating or gliding in a circle, but more like a click motion every 0,5 sec or so. (as cliche as it gets, i know)
All in the same direction and there might have been at least 10-12 of them if not more, so it was clear as day to see that they were moving and dancing around. First i thought that i might have had too much of that sweet sweet candy during the evening, but quickly realized that they keep moving no matter how much i shake my head and rubbed my eyes.
I figured i had to share this with my dad and his crew so i got up, walked over to the lads and poked my dad on the hip. His response was something on the lines with "what's up little man" to where i just pointed up at the strange light formation in the sky.
He looked up and as soon as he realized what i was pointing at, his eyes and mouth went wide open (best O-face i have seen till this day), he froze for a good solid 10+ sec and then gently slapped the beer belly of the dude next to him while looking up at the sky, to let the other guys know what was going on.
They all started staring at the bizarre formation and nobody said a sound for good 5+ minutes, everyone was just standing there and looking with mouths and eyes wide open.
Suddenly one of the guys took his beer to the mouth, chugged the last half, slung out the leftovers on the grass and said out loud "that's it for me today lads, i don't believe my own fucking eyes anymore!" and left the group with a slight chuckle.
Shortly after another guy from gang said something one the lines with "this is just too fucking strange" and they all laughed a bit nervously as they tried to play cool about it. They then drank out the rest of their beers while spitting a few vague theories and then eventually split up.

I remember that while my dad and i walked back to his house, i kept looking up over my shoulder every 5th to 10th second to see the lights, but as we almost were home and i wanted a last glimpse of them before we entered the house, they were gone and the night sky was back to its usual again.

This episode was not mentioned again for the next 15+ years or so, not for any specific reason like denial or something like that. But i honestly just forgot about it as soon as i closed my eyes that night.
Suddenly in the age of 20-21 i woke up to the the memory come blasted back to my brain like a lightning from a clear sky, for a minute or two i was just sitting there in my bed quite mind-blown and trying to figure out if i just dream all of that, or i actually saw those strange lights all of those years back.
It would be weird if i had seen something so out of the ordinary and completely forgotten all about it so fast.
A few weeks later i went to visit my dad i asked him if he could remember what we saw in the sky that night all those years back? And suddenly he froze for about good 5-8 seconds again while staring into the ground, just as he did that night. It was clear to see that he was a bit mind-blown himself and had to think it through a few extra times before unfreezing and saying something.
He then suddenly responded something on the lines with "bloody hell boy" while slamming his big flat hand on the top of the table "i clearly remember those lights that night, but had for some reason forgotten all about it till now you mention it now!"

I know this is not as mind blowing as some other stories in this forum, but i have enjoyed the community here so much through times, so i figured that i wanted to share what i had, no matter how small and episode it was compared to others.
Thank you for reading along with me and i apologize for my grammar, as English is not my first language and writing is not exactly my specialty. Hope you enjoyed it anyway ^^
