Does anyone else find a widespread multi-year disclosure campaign to be plausible and/or have you ever witnessed possible evidence of such a phenomena?

For example recently, I noticed two TV shows (one on FOX, forgot the name) (I was just flipping channels) and noticed the plot line was dealing with extraterrestrials living here on Earth and working alongside humans to achieve (a mission together). Then, on Nick Jr I noticed a cartoon recently (again flipping channels) that dealt with a crashed alien spacecraft and the child characters needing to help the aliens fix the spacecraft so they coiuld return home (while on Earth however, the aliens explained that they have similar traditions back home) ... anywho, it seems to me that a widespread disclosure effort would plausibly reach many people through the TV/entertainment medium, as well as impact multiple generations ... thoughts?
