Very strange death on Wallface Mountain in 2017. Possible alien abduction/failed experimentation?

I lived in NJ a year ago (I now reside in Michigan).

Around summer, I read of a young hiker who was found dead in a mountainous forest.

Seems simple enough, but then things get weird.

According to the paper, the weather was really severe on the mountain. The rain was severe, exceeding half an inch per hour on some days and it did not stop. This extreme rain lasted for a few days before the man was said to have died, and during the search.

A coroner did an autopsy on him and said he had no external injuries, except for some abrasions on his knees, and he had no infection (ie, no infection was mentioned).

His lungs and airways were the centerpoint for the autopsy summary. His windpipe was described as having ''striking amount of purulent material, or pus, in his tracheal bronchial tree''

He was 28 years old. For some odd reason the coroner then seems to imply that the rain had caused it. He was already dead for three days before he was found and there was no distress signal or call sent out by him. It is also implied he did not die from hypothermia.

The news never said anything more about his case after that and it seemed unusually quiet for a guy who was found on a mountain with his lungs and airways filled to the brim with goo.
