Noticing that Playalinda Beach gates close at 6 pm, I’m looking for other close-by viewing spots north of 39A for the upcoming Falcon Heavy launch, tentatively set for the evening of Sunday 4/7.
Looking at G Maps, there’s a causeway on a road about a km east of the beach as the road crosses Max Hoeck Back Creek. It has a south side pull-off parking area eastward on the causeway.
Is this area typically closed off for a 39 launch b/c too close, or is it doable? Looks like it’s about 6 km or 3.5 mi away from 39A and would be a great viewing spot if available.
I may also opt to go to KSC. What do they do with ticket holders if, as planned, the launch is after KSC closes to the public? If they allow it, I might make it a day over there at the visitor center, followed by a launch viewing.
