Ending up at NASA?

Hi everyone, so I am currently 1 year out from graduating with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and maybe around last year is when I decided I wanted to work at NASA. Space exploration has always interested me and I would love to be apart of a team that’s on the forefront of science. However, my stupid mistakes through college has put my gpa below a 3.0 and I won’t be able to bring it up by the time I graduate( not even to around a 2.8). I know that the internship requires a 3.0 to even apply so that is out of the question. I have also accepted that I may not go from college to NASA but I know for a fact that it is where I want to end up at. My question is what should my course of action be so I can at least put my foot in the door? What actual chance do I have at ending up at NASA? I have been applying to other internships but I feel that my gpa is the major reason that I haven’t been contacted back. My backup plan is that I would join the Air Force and then from there get experience in aviation and maybe even go for my masters and then leave the military and the try to go into NASA. The only problem is that I feel like I would need to go in for a minimum of 7-8 years just to get where I want to go. Any help or criticism is welcome, I just need to know what to do because to be honest, I have no clue what I am doing. Sorry for the long post:)
