Thinking about other dimensions

I have recently become intrigued with the thought of additional dimensions - those outside our 3 dimensions and 'time'.

Hearing about a book called 'Flatland' and some of the analogy that is represented in here to help the reader understand how something from a higher dimension might appear in a lower dimension, got me thinking about how something from a higher dimension might appear in our 3D world...

I started to wonder whether any of the things we call 'phenomena' could actually be events/objects from a higher dimension passing through our 'space' and impacting on one of the dimensions we can comprehend.

As an example, many crop circles are known to be hoaxes, but there are some crop-circles and land markings that are still unexplained. Could it be that these markings are actually just our interpretation of a higher-dimension event. We suspect that if aliens were creating crop circles, that they were perhaps flying to a field in their space ship and purposely impressing on the ground to make these geometric shapes. Could it be that these shapes on the ground are actually the result of some other signal or force that is being sent from elsewhere (space, dimension, time etc). As these signals/forces pass through earth, we can see their impression on the ground ............ assuming it passes through a place on earth that we can see and the ground is relatively static (i.e. fields, deserts etc).

Are there other phenomena that appear to us one way, but could be potentially be signs? How might another higher dimension interaction look to us here in 3D?
