Were using telescopes to search far away galaxies for Aliens who are so advanced that they harvested the power of the sun. The problem is where looking at galaxies millions or billions of light years away.. were basically looking into the past.
We also assume all aliens are more advanced, when aliens could also be dumb, simple minded, or aquatic.
