I have this suspicion that the reason we don't see aliens is because we killed an alien race off. There were 11 societies of humans before this run. We came to contact with Neptune and saw the Neptunian's as a large scale threat even though they offered to trade with us and live together with us. But we were scared of them and sent nukes to Planet Neptune. Global warming exists because we nuked ourselves back to the stone age 11 times, and the Mayan calendar was a warning for us not to do it again. Mars got into it's own nuclear war and that's why everything is so barren with odd structures. The pyramids were for safety during sandstorms. Now the remaining Neptunian's are in stasis somewhere and Mars is probably gone.
