So I am kind of obsessed with the nomad archetype, and always thought living in a house that moves would be awesome. But planes and helicarriers and spaceships are too costly, and an RV is boring. So naturally I turned to the Crawlers.
I did some math too (all in Imperial bc I'm on my phone and screw off Britain):
The Crawler 20 ft tall 131 ft long 114 ft wide Platform: 90 ft by 45 ft (4,050 sq ft)
4 1,000 KW generators 2 2,050 KW diesel engines 19,000 gal diesel tanks 125.7 mi/gal
Max speed: 2 mph Max carrying weight: 18 bil lbs
Houses
Avg American house 600 sq ft 240,000-360,000 lbs
Avg 2 story house 800 sqft (base) Probly 360,000 lbs
Avg 1 story house Probly bout 400-600 sqft
So say you fit 2 2 story houses and 2 1 story houses:
600+600+800+800 sqft 2,800 sqft
2360,000+2480,000 lbs 1,200,000 lbs
Excess: 4,050-2,800 sqft 1,250 sqft
1 bil - 1.2 mil lbs Literally it doesnt even matter
Conclusion: you can build a small town on top of a NASA Crawler. You could build a bloody FORTRESS if you wanted, and keep a small fleet of vehicles.
So my question is... is it street legal¿¿¿¿ I know tanks without the firing chamber are, but like, that's relatively normal compared to converting a bloody Crawler into a Mortal Engines-style traction town.
