I was wondering if current or pass recent graduates pathways people can share their experience on how soon/often do the 'steps' within a GS grade increases for starting at GS9? I have read some saying that it can go from GS5 then after one year into GS7, then one year into GS9, etc. But I read on the OPM website that it takes 6 month for just one step increase, so one year would be only two step increases within the same GS grade. Is this accurate? I mention pathways cause maybe is different if you are already a civil servant, but feel free to share experience anyhow. It would be helpful to have some sort of idea of the steps increases in order to plan finances better.
