Jessie Jackson Jr. is a former US Congressman from Illinois from 1995-2012. As we commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and continue to reflect on the violent siege of the US Capitol, Carlton Pearson and I interview Representative Jessie Jackson Jr. about his thoughts about the future of Dr. King's dream for America. Jackson is the son of activist and former presidential candidate Jessie Jackson and prior to his career in elected office, worked for his father in both the elder Jackson's 1984 presidential campaign and his social justice, civil rights and political activism organization, Operation PUSH. He also served as a national co-chairman of the 2008 presidential campaign of Barack Obama. In this firsthand, and very personal conversation we will explore the ties that bind this nation together and what each of us can do to be part of moving the promise of our 240 year experiment in pluralistic democracy forward.
