The theory that aliens wouldn't even waste their time with us because we are like ants to them is ridiculous.

Even if they were infinitely more intelligent than us they would still recognize that we are concious creatures and at least study us. I mean even humans study ants.

I think the more accurate comparison between us and them would be like chimps and humans on earth. Even gods can take interest in humans.

Sure they might not contact us for other reasons but it wouldn't be because "we are like dirt to them"

*1. Maybe the universe is rather large, and it's not a question of whether they wouldn't be interested in studying lower life forms, but that there are far too many other things to do. Maybe they are so advanced that contacting other civilizations on their own level is more what it's about- sort of like a Star Trek sort of scenario, where there is a level of "do not interfere," but also "there's way too much other shit going on for any of us to spend any recognizable amount of time with many of these planets, especially the less evolved ones, anyway"

Sort of like a combo of "even just the sight of us would change their history forever" with "theres a fucking billion planets just like this, so far away that we only barely drove past randomly on the most far away expeditions"

*2. Which would be that they already know almost everything there is to know. In other words, maybe they are SO advanced that we are more like single celled organisms to them. That seems rediculous, but if it's possible it would warrant leaving us alone.

While as humans we still study things that are that simple, we (assumedly) know most of what there is to know...so the studies are probably relegated to their interactions with foreign objects or areas, or just observing where they live.

If the "aliens" are on the level of creating and destroying entire planets of diverse ecosystems with nothing but thought or easily accessible science, the likelihood of them needing to "study" a race that doesn't have manifestation powers of that level might be somewhat pedantic. Maybe they check in once every couple thousand years? You know? Maybe they could simulate everything they'd ever need to know about us in a computer program and get all the information of a thousand of our possibilities in a quarter of a second. I could see them not stopping by if that were the case.

"I mean they could probably study us from afar and never even come here. Who knows maybe they can even interfere with a human's brain from where ever they want. What stops them from creating a human clone/biothrall and sending them to earth to gather information. The clone could be complete unaware of it and they could be sending back information unknowingly to the aloen species. The clone could be of someone real who died with no wtinesses and they brought them back to life so they get their information and do a "good" deed or maybe it is just recycling depending on how advanced they are. The possibilities are endless, but without them coming out and making global apperance or actual effort to interfere with human lives there is nothing we can really do but speculate. If they are visiting us they aren't really doing anything blatant enough to effect us to our general knowledge."
