It was September 1943, when 16-year-old Tore Hedin broke into the Gustav Hills Brewery in Annelöv, southern Sweden to steal a sack of oats. He burned the building to the ground, took the oats, and hid them in the attic of the home he shared with his parents. This act of theft and arson by the teenager was just the first chapter in what would become one of Sweden’s most infamous crime stories.
