Junior alien believer here... I have a major issue with the theory that humankind is too violent for aliens to reveal themselves to us.
My biggest issue is that .. we’d have to start with the assumption that aliens are here and they are advanced AF. If they are here, it would logically follow they know/have tech that is far advanced to anything we as humans could image (at least those of us who haven’t seen it).
So.. following those two assumptions..
Being an advanced race with limitless advanced tech, their ability to help humanity would be instantaneous. Imagine, if just one of the key issues on earth was solved overnight: global hunger. With their advanced tech, they should be able to assist with the building of advanced farms that would allow cheap/efficient farming and solve hunger even in the most desolate environment.
Next, we again assume their tech could have the ability to construct massive housing projects that would allow humans to thrive. Giving humanity tech might even be something they could profit off of.
I think keeping themselves hidden from site because we are violent does more damage than good. Again, we’d have to assume this civilization is beyond our comprehension. Not letting humanity know the greatest piece of information (not only are we not alone, but our modern tech comes from them)..
All of this isn’t to say they aren’t here.. it’s just to point out what I think is a flaw in the thought process that aliens won’t reveal themselves due to their “disgust” with humanity (as some have so eloquently suggested)..
