Liu Cixin developed two axioms of cosmic sociology in his novel series Remembrance of Earth's Past, mostly in second part The Dark Forest.
Axioms are:
- Survival is the primary need of civilization.
- Civilization continuously grows and expands, but the total matter in the universe remains constant.
Those axioms lead to the concept of "dark forest", which means that universe is hostile and there could be no friendship between civilizations. That doesn't mean no one civilization could be friendly. That means, it is danger to trust other civlization. You never know, what they think. There is only one possibility - kill others.
Similar view has Michio Kaku, who say, it is not clever to send any message to the cosmos, because we don't know, who will be the receiver.
What do you think about the concept of "dark forest"? Is that right? Do you know about another concept or way of thinking? Are we doomed to stay in isolation?
