Night Terrors or were you and I visited?

So about 25 or 30 years ago I had an encounter or a "night terror" depending on who you ask. My understanding of a "night terror" - a dream where you feel awake inside of your dream while still in your bed unable to move or speak while you are alert. Now this is what happened to me. I woke up to a bright flash that I could see thru my closed curtains. Within a blink of an eye my bed was surrounded by 6 or 7 little grey aliens all about the size of my 7 year old son. One of them was a little taller and more filled out but still small. They appeared as others have described them through the years. Big elongated eyes, a slit for a mouth, etc. I recall trying to scream for my parents but couldn't utter a single word. I couldn't lift my head off the pillow or move any of my limbs. The visitors seemed startled because I was so scared. The only thing I could do was blink. Strange... and I know I blinked because I was telling myself in my "dream" that I was in fact not dreaming. After a few blinks they were gone just as fast as they appeared. Til this day it still is burned into my memory. 1 of 2 "dreams" I never forgot because it was so surreal. The next morning I asked my parents how they slept which they never heard me ask before. They didn't mention anything crazy happening so I didn't share my experience and I wrote it off as a disturbing dream back then. Two things that make this more compelling for me that this may have not been a dream at all. One- I had no idea what a grey alien looked like until I saw a picture years later of someone talking about the greys and there was a sketch made of one. Seeing that sketch I started to question my experience again. Of course I had seen aliens in movies and books like the standard green alien but these things that I saw were too life like and moving their heads and arms in such a way that it felt too damn real. I know I had never seen grey aliens before on TV or anywhere else that I know of. But the more I have seen through the years on the greys I feel I had an encounter and this was no dream. Second - of all the people that I have seen share their Night Terror story they mostly involved aliens visiting them in their bedroom. This is way too coincidental. It's not like one person dreamed of sharks circling his bed, and another person dreamed of tigers standing watch. No.... it's close to always being aliens. Please share if you had this experience before. I swear I think Night Terrors is a term for the psyche field to try and explain away these occurrences. Obviously there is no way to prove that we have been visited so what else can a doctor say?
