As you are well aware by now, many of us eagerly anticipate your public arrival. Speculation is rife about your intentions toward us and/or this beautiful planet we inhabit, as well as for how long and to what extent you have been interacting with us.
The very idea of you is a subject of entertainment and heated debate throughout a lot of the world. But I do not think I am telling you anything you would not already know.
If many folks’ stories are to be believed, at least some of you seem to share some similarities with us: curiosity, imagination, ingenuity, community, and a sense of purpose; two eyes, two arms, two legs, a mouth, and a bipedal gate.
In all likelihood we to you must seem positively medieval. If you can experience nostalgia, perhaps in some way we incite it in you.
We have so many questions we want to ask you. There is so much we would like to know.
And, to be honest, we could really use some assistance from an “older sibling” when it comes to running this world. Both we and the planet are suffering. So many people across the world are starving. And countless more are suffering from awful diseases and other bad conditions.
Would you help us, please? Some of us have said that such misfortunes must not be solved or cured by anyone but us, that such tragedies are a necessary part of growth for our species. But I think that maybe the next level of progressive maturity is to humbly ask for aid and to realize that we cannot do it alone.
I would like to thank you for having not killed us. I reckon that would be pretty easy for people as technologically advanced as yourselves.
