If we had a way to get to a planet that supported advanced life... but couldn’t tell if they were peaceful or not. Wouldn’t we try to secretly get intel before making contact? If aliens were passing by and decided to do the same imagine their findings.
Millions of people around the world...starving, homeless, sick... nuclear weapons directed at other countries. Greed, evil, corruption, genocide, wars, civil wars, riots, destruction of our ecosystem/planet so. Much. HATE.
Who in their right mind would want to make contact with humans? Yes, there’s good in this world. But the bad outweighs the good 1000x over. If they had technology and resources that could help us with all of our problems (global warming, asteroids, space travel, food crisis, pollution, cures for all diseases etc) what would our leaders do with it? Find a way to profit and sell it to the rest of the world or find a way to weaponize it.
We would all kill each other and most likely the aliens as soon as news broke out. I’ve read articles and have watched videos theorizing why we haven’t heard from others.
Earth isn’t ready for change. I’m not sure if we ever will be, at least in my life time. If a space craft landed tomorrow... we would send every military personnel & every weapon to greet them. Nothing says “Welcome to our home” like a thousand men pointing guns at your face. That is...if we haven’t shot their craft down before they can even land.
If we want contact we need to make a planet worth contacting. I know there’s a good chance aliens have already tried or succeeded in the past. This was just on my mind... I hope I’m wrong but our history shows me, I’m most likely right.
