As a World Poetry Slam Champion, Harry Baker has always written things to try and connect with an audience, but how do you stay connected when you’re not allowed to breathe the same air?
From a poem written the day we started lockdown in the UK to the first thing performed on a stage 444 days later, follow a performers journey as they learn to write for themselves, as well as appreciating the connections we have been able to put in place these past 18 months, and of course the importance of a decent toilet seat.
Harry Baker has been a full-time poet since 2015, when he graduated from Bristol with a degree in Mathematics. He became the youngest ever Poetry World Slam Champion in 2012 and published his first collection of poems The Sunshine Kid in December 2014. He is famous for combining his love for words with his mathematics nerdiness. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
