There are four sunspot regions currently on the visible disc. A Type II radio sweep (263 km/s) was observed from an eruption around the Region 2848.
A slow moving CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) has been observed on available imagery around 25/0445 UTC. Forecaster analysis determined the CME to be a possible glancing blow arriving late on the 29th-early on the 30th.
SPACE WEATHER FORECAST
Today, Earth's magnetic field is quiet. It should stay that way until July 28th when a narrow stream of solar wind arrives. The gaseous material is flowing from a sinuous hole in the sun's atmosphere. The stream's arrival is expected to trigger minor (Kp=4) geomagnetic unrest.
Co-Rotating Active Region (CIR)
Unsettled to active levels are expected on July 28 due to the arrival of a CIR ahead of a positive polarity Coronal Hole High-Speed Stream (CH HSS). CIRs are transition zones between slow- and fast-moving solar wind. Solar wind plasma piles up in these regions, producing density gradients and shock waves that do a good job of sparking auroras.
