Now I'm not a religious nut by any stretch of the imagination. And I'm not here to spread my views or judge anyone else's views but it is important for the context of my question (and this is the only time I will ever bring this up in this sub) to point out that I do believe there is a God.
Now my question for creationists as well as athiests alike, there seems to be this perception out there that people of faith would pretty much go nuts and that religious institutions would collapse if intelligent life was found beyond Earth that the two issues are incomparable yada yada. Where does this perception come from? I'm just your typical non denominational Christian, I go to church on all the holidays but usually prefer watching football on Sunday's. I have absolutely zero issues with believing there is a God as well as believing that there are probably countless alien civilizations out there. Everyone in the circles I run in also have no issues with the concept, in fact most of them believe the same as I do that there are likely aliens out there, probably more than you would really think there might be. Hell I enjoy speculating on the subject, I'd be trilled to see hard proof of intelligent life beyond Earth while Im still above ground:) Now I will say this for context, Im not LDS, and Im not even sure you can really call LDS Christian? I have run into LDS people who absolutely refuse to believe that there is life beyond earth in the form of aliens. BUT Ive never run into any people of faith outside of the LDS following who have shared this close minded view.
So again, where does this perception come from? And thank you, I know anything on reddit that even gets near the subject of religion is usually assaulted immediately. Please respect the context of this post, please respect everyones views, would love to get some quality dialog here.
