Nasa near Alden, Iowa? I have a friend who works of the city there and they came in a few days ago to study the water table saturation in the area. Is a this normal project for Nasa to conduct? Do they often do geological surveys like this?

Seems that they have set some sort of basecamp up in the area and cordoned off an area. Some solar panels and tents and such.

Is there any resources to find out more information?
