What was the term for noncarbon-based extraterrestrial intelligences again?

For some reason I can't find this via google. In alien theory there exist two approaches. One is carbon chauvinism (complex life can only exist with a carbon metabolism and will always look somewhat familiar to life as we already know) and one is a more abstract view that includes all kinds of forms (life in the form of crystals, gases, plasma and so on, not necessarily meeting all our current criteria of what life is but showing at least some form of intelligence). There exists a specific term to describe "lifeforms" of the latter definition. I'm desperately trying to remember that name or find it somewhere to learn more about it but I can't. Can anyone help out?
