First-year college student looking to apply to the NASA Pathways program for the first semester of my second year. Am I under-qualified?

When I came across the Pathways program yesterday I was extremely excited because it is exactly what I've been looking for. As part of my engineering program, I am required to complete 5 semesters of co-ops. The problem is that there are very few good co-ops for Biomedical Engineering students in Cleveland.

But the NASA Pathways program at the Glenn Center looks absolutely amazing. And I mean everything about it looks amazing. The reviews of the program are great, too. The problem is that I feel under-qualified after reading some reddit posts about how competitive it is.

The only thing going for me is a 4.0 GPA (which might change this semester) and the fact that I'll be available for 5 (non-consecutive) semesters. Other than that, I'm involved in no engineering clubs or research projects. My resume isn't bad, but it's filled with stuff like service and past experience at restaurants (obviously I capitalize on the teamwork/responsibility aspects of these jobs in my resume).

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for something like this? It isn't too late to get involved in a minor engineering club at my college, but it would be nothing more than a title on my resume.
