TIL that the obliquity of Mars shifts over a wide range over hundreds of thousands of years. I was wondering if there is any good explanation of why this occurs. I did notice that there is a significant difference in topographical elevation between the northern and southern hemisphere. Perhaps something similar to the Dzhanibekov effect?
