A little thought experiment: How exactly would solid, irrefutable proof of alien visitation change our world? Or would it?

I’ve often seen / heard the notion that proof of alien visitation would profoundly and perhaps negatively impact our lives. I’d like to hear from others what and how they think things would change. Big or small. Good or bad. What do you think?
