There's more than one Thoth?
Mythology, written records, and antiquities from around the world display several remarkable similarities, including references to wise beings credited with teaching our ancient ancestors the sciences, the arts, the first religion, and the foundations of industry deep in antiquity. Two widespread motifs are explored in this fictional narrative: the ancient struggle between the aspect of the Eagle and the aspect of the Serpent, and the presence of a group of beings collectively known as Thoth or Thotha:
· Ancient UK: Tuatha De, Teutates
· Ancient Jutland: Teutones, Theutons, Thor
· Ancient Greece: Titans
· Ancient Balkan/Turkish/Mongol:Tartars
· Ancient Egypt: Thoth
· Ancient Nubia: Tehuti
· Ancient India: Thirtha, Thirthankara
· Ancient China: Taotie, Tao
· Ancient Polynesia: Taïti, Tahiti
· Ancient Americas: Tol’tec, Teoti, Teotihuacan
Just as globally prevalent are references to the Naga or Serpent Gods, and there is extensive mythology placing the two groups in conflict. The Ancient Chinese, Polynesian, Indus Valley, Mesopotamian, Egyptian, African, Greek, Norse, Celtic, and Native American cultures all have similar mythology about powerful Serpent Gods, and in most cases these Chthonic Gods are associated with ground- or underground-dwelling harbingers of chaos, destruction, and enslavement.
In these same cultures, the Thotha Gods are often aligned with the aspect of the Eagle/Flight/Sky and are credited by local mythology for bringing some sort of knowledge, skill, or wisdom to the people. Several radical ideas are presented in this fictional narrative based on an alternative perspective of ancient mythology: creation, flood, and civilization myths are re-told in new ways based on this alternative perspective.
Upon the conclusion of this three-part series of books as well as the companion blog, several controversial ideas will be expressed with the hope of instilling a newfound interest in mythology as well as a sense of shared history, global community, and discussions about ethical governance and exploration, which must continue to be addressed as humanity transitions from a Type 0 to a Type I Civilization.
