When speculating about extraterrestrial life, we usually imagine them looking human-like, yet slightly different, and much more intelligent and technologically advanced. What I wonder is how we, as humans, would react to discovering extraterrestrial life... but they were us, they were human, exactly like us. No less or more advanced than us; literally... the same. That discovery would be the most haunting and perplexing one I can think of at the moment. That discovery would make us rethink life as-we-know-it AND advanced life as a concept. We would ask ourselves, "Are homosapiens the most intellectually advanced life can possiblly get across the whole universe and all of existence? Is that due to the Great Filter? Does life progress and evolve in the same exact way in all possible life-sustaining environments in the universe?" So interesting.
