Apollo 8 astronaut, Jim Lovell, lived in our neighborhood. Apollo 8 was orbiting the Moon on Christmas Eve, 1968. We still light luminarias every Christmas Eve to light the way home for our astronauts. As a space nerd, this tradition makes me stupid happy.
