Can anyone explain how editing the genes of an already-born living person might work?

There are two types of gene editing: Somantic & Germline.

Germine is usually the one everyone thinks about; changing genes at conception in order to have designer babies, ect.

Does anyone have any interesting futurism on how Somantic editing might work in the future? How might a technology editing the genes of an already born person, considering that the genetics in every single cell in their body (or at least a vast majority) need to be modified?

Currently, the best we can hope for is that we have a very intelligent system insert viruses (yes, viruses) into the body and infect every cell in the human body. Surely the future will have a better alternative. Perhaps nanobots?
