Is it possible for there to be an Alien species similar to a Kryptonian?

I'm not saying that under the earth's orbit they would become akin to a god, but if they would possibly be able to gather energy from the sun or some other source of light/energy. So much so that they wouldn't need to eat or what might be equivalent to eating, or sleeping, or what have you.
