Ian Goldin will show that Covid-19 has created a pivotal moment and that by seizing this historic moment, we can turn the tide to shape our individual and collective destiny to rescue humanity from catastrophe and create a better world. Business as usual led to our disastrous situation. This is not a 1-in-100 years crisis, as crises are becoming more frequent. To prevent future pandemics, which could be much more deadly than Covid-19, and to stop catastrophic climate change, prevent financial crises and create a more stable world, we need a radical change in direction. Ian will provide a manifesto for change to create a healthier and more inclusive and sustainable world of shared prosperity. Ian Goldin is Professor of Globalisation and Development at the University of Oxford and founding Director of the Oxford Martin School. Previously Ian was Chief Executive of the Development Bank of Southern Africa and adviser to President Nelson Mandela, then Vice President and Policy Director of the World Bank. He has been knighted by the French Government, presented 3 BBC Series and published 22 books, most recently Rescue: From Global Crisis to a Better World, Terra Incognita: 100 Maps to Survive the Next 100 Years, Age of Discovery: Navigating the Storms of Our Second Renaissance.
