It is possible that an advanced alien race existed in our galaxy in the history of the universe - even if they lived billions of years in the past. It is also plausible that a technologically advanced, space-faring civilization would have been very conscious of the improbability of their existence and developed a deep sense of their cultural, historic and technological achievements. Similar to our advanced cultures like the Egyptians or Greek, I think they may have wanted to to be recognized for their achievements, so perhaps they built monuments for themselves and others as proof of their existence, testimony of their achievements and as a library of their history. Due to this sense of pride, I can imagine that they also would have wanted other alien civilizations to easily discover these 'monuments'.
With the launch of the James Webb telescope, we may be able to spot these alien artifacts in the very near future. A very exciting prospect!
This brings me to the core of this discussion:
- Which forms may these alien monuments have (e.g. Dyson spheres, gigantic space monuments, space ships, light or other signals, transformed planets)?
- Where should we look for alien monuments? (e.g. near the center of the galaxy, near significant star formations, the largest star)
