So I've signed up for Gravitational Theory this semester and I can't wrap my head around the notation. My professor doesn't have any office hours before the next homework is due, so y'all are my only hope!
I'm trying to understand this stuff in terms of matrix multiplication (which may be the issue, but I'm not sure how else to approach it). Basically, I can't figure out how to tell whether these expressions should evaluate to a matrix, a vector, a covector, or a scaler. I'm especially confused about what a dot product means in this context. My specific questions are in the imgur post.
