JPL employees or past employees: what did you do before JPL and do you enjoy working there?

Working at JPL has been my dream job, and now I am just about to start my first year of college for mechanical engineering. What should I do to work towards getting a job at JPL? I want to work there right out of college, but I’m not sure how realistic that is.
