I’ve seen several comments recently about Space Force and the timing of the Navy video releases. I feel like there is an pressing need to clarify to folks exactly what the deal with Space Force is.

The idea of Space Force was floated back in 2013ish as a way to combine the USAF space program with all of the multi-branch cyber-space operations.

Every single branch hated the idea, along with the Joint Chiefs. They hated it primarily because each branch likes having separate cyber forces and the funding that comes with them. The Air Force likes it’s space program too ( which had a budget orders of magnitude larger than NASA’s budget).

The Air Force space program exists essentially to launch NRO spy sats...and is not focused on extra terrestrials.

The implementation of Space Force is totally a vanity move on the part of the Orange Narcissist. Even in its current implementation, it does not accomplish the originally suggested goal of combining cyber forces from the other branches. So now the Navy, Army, Marines, AF etc will still maintain their own cyber operations. Wasting literal assloads of money.

When the Orange man decided to go against the wishes of the military and create Space Force, he did not ask Congress to provide billits (money to actually staff and implement) for SF in the budget.

Ultimately, Space Force is going to consist of acquisition officers who buy rockets from the private sector at LA AFB, satellite operators at Peterson AFB and launch teams at Vandenberg AFB and Cape Canaveral. Along with a cyber group..

Space Force will NOT be hunting aliens, using alien tech, building deep space vehicles.
